Guelph Pride Chair Steps Down
[May 12, 2014] Dear community members and community partners,
On behalf of the 2014 Guelph Pride Committee, I would like to send you
a warm thank you for your contributions to this year’s events. Thank you
to our amazing corporate sponsors, McNeil and the University of Guelph,
for their financial and other support. Thank you to all the businesses
who donated a door prize to one of our many events. Thank you to our
community partners for their promotional and resource support. Thank you
to the event volunteers who helped with event facilitation. And finally, thank
you to all those who attended the Guelph Pride 2014 events. Without you,
Guelph Pride Week would not have been nearly as successful.
At our meeting last night, the Guelph Pride Committee discussed the
successes of the week and room for improvement for Guelph Pride Week
2015. Lots of great ideas were put forth on how to make Guelph Pride Week
2015 that much better. At this time, I would like to invite all community
members and partners to provide us with their feedback about this year’s
events via this survey. This feedback is important to us and is taken into
account in the Fall when we begin planning the following year’s events.

Finally, I would like to announce that I will be stepping down as Chair of the
Guelph Pride Committee to allow new ideas to flow through the organization
as of May 31. From this point on, Out On The Shelf will be looking for
a new Pride Committee Chair for Guelph Pride Week 2015. I invite all
community members who are interested in this position to e-mail myself at
chair@guelphpride.com. Following my leaving, all e-mails to this address
will be forwarded to the Board of Directors of Out On The Shelf until a new
committee chair is named.
While this position does come with various responsibilities, it is an excellent
opportunity to make a big impact within the Guelph community and to give
back to the LGBTQA+ community while promoting our values of diversity,
community, acceptance, awareness, collaboration, and accessibility.
Working with Guelph Pride has been an amazing learning experience. I
encourage more people to get involved with our growing organization. I
have been honoured to work with such dedicated and passionate people
from even more amazing community organizations. I look forward to
watching Guelph Pride and Out On The Shelf continue to flourish and make
an impact in our community.
Thank you for this opportunity and stay engaged with Pride!
