As part of our Storytelling Event on Tuesday May 6, 2014 in the evening at the Joint Cafe Downtown Guelph, Guelph Pride is looking for community members to share any story they wish. The theme of the event will be "Life Stories of LGBTQ-identified persons". If you don't identify as LGBTQ yourself, you're welcome to tell the story of someone else or how someone who identifies as LGBTQ has impacted your life. Please note that the language you use to tell the story will not be restricted, provided that it holds artistic and instrinsic value to the story. We welcome all stories! For the first time, Guelph Pride will be hosting a conference entitled Living and Learning: An (un)conference and Community Gathering on May 3, 2014 to kick off Guelph Pride Week. The intention of this conference is to create conversations, dialogues, communities, and networks in a safe space involving people from Guelph and surrounding area. We envision that this day will address themes of sexuality, community building, activism, and multi-worldview exploration (but are not limited to those specific topics). We encourage workshops that include skill-building, active participation from those in attendance, and artistic expression. We are soliciting involvement from organizations and individuals wishing to participate in the day. There are two possible ways that anyone interested in presenting can pursue involvement. The first is a workshop style contribution, where there would be a formal session with facilitator(s) and participants. The second option is a poster style presentation where an organization, individual, or company can bring and display materials and handouts for conference participants to browse and approach during breaks (between sessions and during lunch). Please click on the link below to submit a proposal. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Dillon March at chair@guelphpride.com.
